THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP

Goulburn Murray Community Leadership (GMCL) is dedicated to identifying and developing community based leaders. Our vision is to develop leaders to be catalysts for positive change throughout the Goulburn Murray region.

An integral part of an extensive network of local employers, trainers and regional leadership programs across Victoria, the Fairley Leadership Program (FLP) is our flagship annual program and has been responsible for developing resilient community leaders since 1997.

​

Fairley Leadership participants do more than learn about the region’s challenges – they become part of a network of leaders from throughout the Goulburn Murray region who are working for change. At the end of the Fairley Leadership Program year, they join over 600 Fairley Leadership Fellows – Many are familiar faces, many work behind the scenes and many have gone on to high profile roles championing the betterment of outcomes for our community. They include frontline workers, volunteers, media personalities, senior management, CEOs, councillors and members of parliament.

Fairley Fellows have access to continuing educational and networking opportunities to help advance their community leadership goals.

​

In a year that is continuing to cause us to reflect and redefine how we think about community and leadership, 27 individuals have navigated their own leadership experience as part of the 2020 Cohort.
