Kyabram, Victoria — Goulburn Murray Community Leadership (GMCL) is delighted to announce that Community Bank Kyabram has committed to funding 50% of a scholarship for a local community member to participate in the 2026 Fairley Leadership Program.

This generous contribution marks a significant investment in developing grassroots leadership within the Kyabram district and strengthens Community Bank Kyabram’s long-standing commitment to empowering local people to drive positive change.
The Fairley Leadership Program, now entering its 30th year, has equipped more than 745 regional leaders with the skills, networks, and confidence to lead community-led transformation across the Goulburn Murray.
GMCL Treasurer, Lacey Nicholson, welcomed the announcement:
“We are incredibly grateful to the Bendigo Bank Kyabram and the generous Kyabram community for supporting this year’s Kyabram Community Scholarship. This contribution makes a real and lasting difference, empowering local leaders to pursue their goals and continue their development with confidence. The support shown by Bendigo Bank and our community reflects the spirit of Kyabram—where people look out for one another and invest in the future of our emerging leaders. We extend our sincere thanks for this meaningful opportunity.”
GMCL Board Member, Sam Atukorala, added:
“Supporting local leadership strengthens the whole community. We’re hopeful others will join us in completing this scholarship so a Kyabram leader can fully benefit from the Fairley Leadership Program.”
With 50% of the scholarship now funded, GMCL is calling on local businesses, community organisations, service clubs, and individuals to help raise the remaining amount so that a full scholarship can be offered to a Kyabram-based participant in 2026.
Your contribution will:
Remove financial barriers for a local leader
Strengthen leadership capacity in the Kyabram district
Support long-term community wellbeing and resilience
Ensure diverse voices are represented in regional decision-making
Community members wishing to support this initiative can donate directly via the GMCL website https://www.goulburnmurraycommunityleadership.com.au/donate, and are encouraged to specify “Kyabram Scholarship” when making their contribution to ensure funds are allocated accordingly.
