Fairley Keen for Canberra – Regional Leaders head to the Capital
Participants in the Fairley Leadership Program travelled to Canberra for an immersive study tour, supported by sponsors and hosted by Fairley Fellow Sam Birrell MP. Despite a scaled-back approach, the cohort engaged with Federal Leaders including the Hon Milton Dick MP, Zoe McKenzie MP, the Hon David Littleproud MP, Senator David Pocock, and Dr Helen Haines MP. Greater Shepparton’s Future Leaders Program brought together local young people for two days of workshops, activities, and real-world learning to build confidence, strengthen community connections, and amplify youth voices. Supported by Greater Shepparton City Council and delivered by Goulburn Murray Community Leadership, the program concluded with a graduation celebrating participants’ achievements.

Planting the Seeds of Regional Leadership
On 4 June 2025, the Fairley Leadership cohort gathered at Fowles Wine, Avenel, for a day of leadership, legacy and inspiration. Guest speakers Andrew Fairley AM, Ross McPherson AM, Matt Nelson and Vicki Scott shared powerful insights on community-driven leadership, systems thinking and storytelling. The day encouraged participants to reflect on the legacy they hope to leave and reinforced the importance of place-based leadership across the Goulburn Murray region.
